The barrier to making a Roblox game is almost gone.
The barrier to making a successful Roblox game is getting ridiculous.
You need a good game.
Good retention.
Good thumbnails.
Advertising money.
Expedited review fee money.
And a ridiculous amount of luck.
Most developers have none of that.
Long live the days where we could have real creativity with user ads on Roblox
Roblox stopped showing user ads on the site a couple years ago, and ever since then it seems like not as much traffic can be funneled for a low enough price as it could have been before
Everyone is currently competing for the same sponsor slots on the game page which is over saturated
There used to be different types of user ads so if you bid the most robux in that type of ad for the day, your ad would show to basically EVERYONE on the desktop site
The square 420x420 ads would come in clutch and show up along with billboard and skyscraper ads to get players to play your game from other pages on Roblox, without them searching for games
A marketing camping was a real marketing campaign
You could flood all types of ads and people would see your ads all over the site, without spending thousands of dollars
On a weekday my first game went viral and hit #2 on popular with 4,000 CCU after I ran 40k Robux across ads and sponsors + a 2M sub YouTuber saw the ads and carried it the rest of the way
But that isn’t possible anymore
Home recommendations are everything now

One thing I’ve learned since starting my dev journey on Roblox is, being a dev is genuinely p2w. My first game did 100k plays, 150 CCU, and average of 250 ppu, making about 1k Robux a day and honestly my stats were and are horrible.
But in the end I lost money because these guys spend $20-50 on ads. I spent $500.
It’s time for the big pockets with liquid cash flow to take over. If you can’t afford ads glhf.
I spent $300 on ads for Roblox over a bit got 35k visits time to move on? It’s for all ages and stats are good🤔 #help #advice #robloxstudio #dev #roblox #game
We're really struggling with D1 retention. Any tips on how to improve it? Sharing our stats below.
Huge thanks to anyone willing to try our Roblox game and give honest, constructive feedback! ❤️

Dear Roblox devs
How do you make your Roblox game famous?
I’ve heard I could pay to advertise my game, but it sounds like a lot of money needed.
Content creation like YouTube takes a lot of time and is not guaranteed to get a lot of views, I’ve tried it #roblox #robloxdev
